36th FIff takes foreign guests to visit Louvre Museum in Tehran

The 36th Fajr Int'l Film Festival takes foreign guests to visit Louvre Museum in Tehran.

The 36th edition of the Fajr International Film Festival has taken its foreign guests to visit Iran's National Museum and The Louvre Museum in Tehran.

The visit came after The Musee Du Louvre put on display a collection of photographs by the late Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami.

The special guests were accompanied by the FIff Club Manager Shadmehr Rastin, Tehran City Council Member Ahmad Masjed-Jamei, ICOM Iran Director Ahmad Mohit-Tabatabaei, and Director of Farabi Cinema Foundation Alireza Tabesh.

Speaking to reporters, Cecilia Mangini, a pioneer of photography and documentary filmmaking from Italy, said "I got surprised when I visited Du Louvre for the first time in Tehran. Now I’m really shocked to see the museum is also showing Kiarostami photos."

"Kiarostami was not only a great filmmaker, but also a great photographer. He could take photos from a fresh point of view. Du Louvre looks so different now that it is showing his photographs," she added.

Mangini, who has worked with Italian director Pier Paolo Pasolini, is the author of masterpieces such as 'Ignotialla Città', 'Stendalì' and 'La Canta Delle Marane'.

Established in 1982, the FIff celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, the Fajr International Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

Directed by Reza Mirkarimi, the 36th FIff is underway from April 19 and will go on until April 27, 2018, in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.
